This elbow armor is made up of a sophisticated combination of red suede leather, strengthened with metal bands riveted onto them. It appears to be similar to the armor known as 'studded' armor, but the Victorian observers didn't understand the composition at the time, so they were mistaken. This arm gear consists of three pieces, resembling the pieces on the effigy of Günther von Schwarzburg, with steel bands alternating on both the outside and the inside.
